Penn State vs Baylor in NIT FInalApril 1, 2009 10:38 am
My son and I took a trip to The Garden last night and saw a Penn State team determined to shut down Harangody and did they. A tenacious defense shut ol' Luke down for at least two-thirds of the game. This is the Penn State team that deserved to play in the Big Dance. This is the team that beat the likes of Illinois and yes the NCAA Tourny Final Four MSU away. This is NOT the team that lost to Iowa, man I still seethe at how we lost that game. Baylor is a good 3-pt shooting team, at least they were in the warm up semi that I saw. And they play tough defense. That being said Penn State can redeem their season by winning the NIT. Go Lions.

Very exciting to see the Lions heading to NYC for the NIT Final Four. They played a great game vs. Florida in Gainsville. Battle showed that he can still make big contributions even when he isn't the big scorer. They moved the ball well and hit big shots down the stretch. Only neg was the way they handled some of the full-court pressure near the end. Eager to see them play Notre Dame. I like our chances. Category: NCAAB Penn St tourny hopesMarch 15, 2009 1:32 pm
As much as I would like to see PSU in the big dance I just don't see it happening due to the lack of a tougher non-conference schedule which was designed to give PSU a winning season(which it accomplished). They do dave some great wins in conference Illinois twice and Michigan St. I don't count the Purdue win due to the fact they were missing their 2 best players when they played PSU. If they do make it in it will be by the miracle of god and they will prob be around a 10-12 seed and they potentially due some damage and make a run to the sweet 16, but I just don't think that they will make it as much as I would love to see them in. NIT here we come! But I'm still hoping!

If they had lost that game, I think their tournament hopes were finished. They still have more to do though. I would think they need to win one of the two against Illinois and get a win against Ohio St. for them to head into the tournament with a realistic chance. I still think the Lions are NIT bound. At the beginning of the year i did not have any idea what to expect, but i knew Penn State had talent: Talor Battle, Jamelle Cornley, Stanley Pringle and even Andrew Jones improving with every game, However i did not expect to be this good. As much as i love Talor Battle i never expected his name to be in Big 10 POY talk. anyway i was hoping Penn State would have a chance to be dancing in march and right now they do. At the beginning of the year if you told me PSU would be 17-5 and 6-3 big10 to start February i would have been thrilled and i am. The tourney slot is there for the taking in my mind if penn state can just go 500. here on out in Big10 play. Category: NCAAB |
